Stamp No. 61Eureka

We met Eureka (a.k.a. Ashikin Hussin) last year when she reached out to us to produce a beautiful set of flower stamps that she designed. We promptly invited her to be part of our Artist Series. Eureka is an artist and illustrator based in Malaysia. Her work is inspired by nature, color and everyday life, blending whimsical and modern aesthetics to create joyful and meaningful work.

Have you designed a stamp before?

This is actually my second time! My first stamp design was also with The Portland Stamp Company. A colorful autumn flower stamp print that I launched at the KL Illustration Fair 2025. The poster stamp looked so unique and charming when framed and I was so happy to see how much love it received.

What was the most interesting or fun aspect of designing a poster stamp? What unique challenges did it present?

The most fun and challenging part for me was balancing detail and simplicity. The small scale really forced me to be intentional with every line, color, and texture. It’s surprisingly hard to fit a big idea into the tiny grid while keeping the whole sheet visually cohesive.

Tell us about the art. Did you create something new for this stamp?

Yes, this time I went for something fun and light, exploring shapes and dynamic, colors and gradients. I love how playful the cats are and I think these stamps will be fun to use for journaling or to frame as a poster.

Anything else?
I look forward to creating more poster stamps in the future!
